Day 2 – 230kms down and 870kms to go

Day 2 was a good effort as we completed 120kms with many steep hill climbs, 2 hours of rain and endless rough roads before the skies turned blue and opened up to a sunny morning. We rode into Brunswick to stop at a local spot known for falafel wraps (which I was a bit hesitant on…not exactly known as performance food!).  But I had to try one and in the end the falafel was an excellent morning tea, which got us into Byron Bay. Byron was the unquestioned highlight today, a few of us had a swim which was absolutely what the body ordered…loosened us up for the last 30K.  Also had a caffeine hit courtesy of Byron Bay Coffee Company, one of our sponsors and thank you for your support. We got organised into our ‘pods’ out of Byron and punched out a couple of good hill climbs on our way here to Ballina. A big day for one of our riders, Graeme Bricknell who turns 50, and all the team are going to celebrate his birthday with a BBQ and some high energy hops. As always we would like to thank all if our sponsors as we have now raised over $175,000 for Fighting Chance and children with disabilities To watch a video interview check out https://www.tourdechance.com.au/2014/02/28/tdc-day-2-ride-blog/ Stay tuned Glenn Dobson is the Managing Director of the KONA Group and raising funds for Fighting Chance, a charity that supports young people with cerebral palsy and other severe disabilities.
